“A global event in which users of GIS technology open their doors to schools, businesses and the general public to showcase real-world applications of this exciting technology.” The first GISday happened in 1999 and was organised by ESRI president and co-founder Jack Dangermond. It was a good opportunity for people to learn about geography and the uses of GIS. The idea has been that the events are supposed to be a grassroots effort and open to everyone to participate. Throughout the day the event will offer sessions to highlight methods in which GIS can be used for business and day-to-day tasks. Withing the Geography week we are presenting to you this Virtual Engage room where you can learn more about the projects, we have utilised GIS technology and how we did it. Some of those project examples will be followed with the session on the 18th of Nov
