Welcome to the third of three virtual engagement sessions for the Kincardine – Places for Everyone project. We are excited to have this opportunity during the Covid 19 lockdown to share with you the developing designs for the High Street, Feregait Junction and the North Approach Rd. Since the first virtual engagement session in July we have received your comments and those of various stakeholders of the project, including Transport Scotland and Fife Council. We held one to one discussion in the Coalfields Regeneration Trust back garden and enjoyed having the opportunity to discuss the evolving proposals with you in more detail.
We do not get everything right first time, as much as we wish we did, we have learned from you and your observations. The designs presented in this third session illustrate the changes to the proposals and the developed designs as a direct result of your input. We hope that you agree.
This third session therefore brings together the proposals for the Feregait Junction, North Approach Road and the High Street, and the improvements to active travel users that are proposed in these three areas of the village. There is also an opportunity to see these proposals in the windows of the Coalfields Enterprise and Training Hub in the village.
In this room today you will have the opportunity to review the images, plans and drawings created for the village. There are before and after images to give you the impression of the changes proposed. There are also boards which cover the pedestrian, cycle, bus and car movement around Kincardine. There are three videos to view from Coalfields Regeneration Trust and the Design Team, one additional video illustrates the phasing of the proposals. If you can experience the room and follow the links in a clockwise direction you will find a questionnaire at the end. We really value your opinion and this short questionnaire gives you the opportunity to express your thoughts and ideas on what you have seen, what we are doing right, and what can be improved. We look forward to receiving the completed forms and reporting back to you later in the year.
The Kincardine Places for Everyone project was born out of the Charette in 2017. Three significant projects emerged to improve circulation, environment, and everyone’s experience of the village. The three projects were a vital link in the concept outcome of the Charette which was The Forest to the Waterfront, linking the amenity resource of the Devilla Forest to the Heritage asset of the Waterfront. Both of which have significant ecological habitats to offer and would benefit from improved connections to the village. The High Street, Feregait Junction and North Approach Road are all key components on this wider village strategy of connectivity and heritage links. The project is funded by Sustrans, managed by Coalfields Regeneration Trust, and supported by the GoForth group. The lead designer, Landscape Architects HarrisonStevens, are supported in Transport Planning and Engineering by Arup, and in cost consultancy by Thomson Gray.
We hope you enjoy navigating around the room, please take your time to read through it all at your own pace. One advantage of this form of engagement is that you will not have others lining up to review the boards and you may feel more liberated in expressing your opinions in the questionnaire.
